November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month!
This month we are putting a special focus on the biggest and most preventable cause of lung cancer: SMOKING.
At the next meeting, if you visited this site, tell an officer that you saw this statistic and you will get a prize.
According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer caused about 160,000 deaths in 2007.
Also, the art contest just ended and we got lots of awesome entries, so expect to see those soon!

PAINT THE TOWN PURPLE for Relay!
We painted our SCHOOL purple on May 8, 2009. We wore purple to help raise awareness about cancer and Relay for Life!

DONATE YOUR HAIR -- Our club partnered with local salon Stacy Monroe's, asking participants to cut their hair for Pantene Beautiful Lengths or Locks of Love. We even got in the local paper!
We raised a total of $1,056.31 for DAFFODIL DAYS
We folded 3,000 CRANES to be hung up at the Oakland Kaiser Hospital
Our contest to Save Lids to Save Lives raised 2,537 pink Yoplait yogurt lids, 547 from the winning class alone!
Our ART CONTEST at CVHS challenged artists to creatively speak out against smoking (click here to see some of the entries)
